TJ’s Filming Expedition in South Africa, Day 5

posted on March 12th, 2010 in News by neilchesher

Today we travelled to a nursery built from shipping containers. They recieved their official certificate of approval whilst we were there.
We had the opportunity to meet with ‘conquest for life’ headed up by glen steyne an ex township gang member who is now dedicated to helping young children turn their lives around, enabling them to graduate from school.
Then on to an orphanage in the suburbs where we spent some time getting to know the children . Whilst here the devastating effect the HIV epidemic has, becomes apparent as most of these orphans are HIV positive. Although its not all bad news thanks to the hard work of some individuals – one of the three year olds was left at the end of the dirt road on a blanket when he was 2 months old, now he is a healthy Manchester united fan!
